Fun with Aviation
At our October Science Club, we had Tim Sukow Lt. Col. USMC came talk to us about aviation. He presented his history of flying, what it takes to become a pilot, and how flying happens! After the presentation, the students got to fold their own paper airplanes and compete to see which plane flew the farthest. We had lots of fun!!!
Sky Watching in October
There are lots of neat events occurring in the sky during the month of October!!!
  • Uranus can be seen on October 7 with a telescope...it will look like a blue-green dot in the sky
  • October 8th will be a TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE, known as a blood moon! The peak is the morning of Oct. 8 at 6:25 am and will be visible until 7:24 am!
  • Two meteor showers on October 8-9 and October 22-23
  • Partial Solar Eclipse on October 23 (commences at 3:37 PM and lasts until 7:51 PM)

I would love to see pictures of any events you can safely take! REMEMBER DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SOLAR ECLIPSE!!!!
